Too many of our children are being lost, left out, or left behind
as they muddle their way through the difficult middle school years.
These promising adolescents are experiencing great change. They
are undergoing a difficult physical biochemical metamorphosis as
their bodies mature. They are also facing intense social pressure
as they struggle to redefine who they are and how they relate to
their peers and the adults around them.
Successfully navigating this phase of their lives
will lead to a limitless future where they can realize their full
potential and enjoy their lives to the fullest. Unfortunately, however,
the uncertainty of this phase in their lives often leads to loss
of self-esteem and disconnection or worse, destructive and antisocial
behavior. Without an opportunity to re-connect, our children stop
dreaming, stop trying, and even stop caring, about themselves and
others. This does not have to happen!
